Your Donation Creates Impact

It costs only 335 (approx. $4) to make one adult functionally literate. Every contribution directly funds education materials, teachers, and infrastructure.

icon Why It Matters

The Value of Adult Literacy

In a society plagued by poverty, casteism, gender inequality, and poor education, Adult Literacy empowers a generation toward positive change.

When an adult completes our 3-month program, they gain far more than just the ability to read and write.

Confidence

Self-assurance to navigate daily life without dependence on others.

Self-Sufficiency

The ability to maintain accounts and read public information.

Impact Youth & Family

Literate parents are more likely to educate their children.

Better Job Opportunities

Opening doors to employment and higher wages.

Who qualifies as an Adult Non-Literate?

The Government of India defines an 'adult non-literate' as a person who is over 15 years old and unable to perform the following:

  • Read aloud at a speed of 30 words per minute
  • Read aloud and understand road signs, posters, & newspapers
  • Understand and copy 7 words per minute
  • Take dictation at 7 words per minute
  • Read and write numbers from 1 to 100
  • Perform simple calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

Three Verticals of Learning

Our innovative approach ensures adult learners receive a well-rounded education over the 3-month period.

01

Alphabets & Vocabulary

Incorporating familiar items to enhance engagement. Each day, a new word is introduced, building a vocabulary of around 700 key words.

02

Numbering & Counting

Practical counting games using sticks or stones. Walking on number lines to understand sequence, bundling, and skip counting.

03

Basic Skills Training

Teaching beneficiaries to read destination signs on buses, fill bank slips, read newspaper headlines, and understand Government Schemes.

Program Implementation Process

A structured approach to ensure quality education and timely completion.

1. Appoint & Train

Appoint teachers, supervisors, data reporters, and Project head. Organize comprehensive training sessions for all staff.

2. Set Up Infrastructure

Establish adult literacy learning centres in targeted villages and distribute all learning materials (books, stationery) to learners.

3. Monitor & Maintain

Maintain rigorous attendance records for both teachers and learners. Pay salaries on a timely basis to ensure motivation.

4. Examination & Completion

Facilitate examinations for adult learners, provide results, and ensure successful completion of the 3-month project.

Study Material Kit

Included in the 335 cost, each learner receives a comprehensive India Humanity Foundation Primer Kit to aid their educational journey.
